Better Days

The Plan

Met up with a mate from course who I haven't seen since the day of the earthquake, just to catch up, find out what both of us are up to in this time of nothingness and to bounce ideas around of projects and job hunting and so on.

It was motivation for me to get off my arse and start taking action in looking for work wether it be studio work or temporary/one off work...even taking on mundane work just to get some cash and to also met more people and get my name out there. Just seeing how much he has achieved during our time off was a bit of an eye opener for me and a little embarassing.

So this weekend I am going to scramble a PDF and Online portfolio together with what work I do have on my harddrive (60% of my work being trapped in the middle of the CBD). Once I have set those up I will feel alot more comfortable and confident in applying for jobs and even cold calling a few people. There are quite a few design jobs being advertised so I just have to get out there and do it!

We also dicussed a little project where he would like me to film and edit a little video of the process of him painting an oil painting from start to finish...which will be real fun to work on! We have a video that we are gonna use as our inspiration which I will post below...

TV on the Radio

Just bought the new TV on the radio album...Freakin love it!

I'm still yet to watch the whole film that goes along with the album, I dont want to use up all our band width for the month. But here is one of the songs from it.

Loving all the new music coming out at the mo...just wish I had more cash to make it all mine!

Its Rahs birthday this Saturday, my present to her arrived in the mail this morning and I am just about to wrap it in this cool wrapping paper that I have rustled up. Can't wait for this weekend and spending Saturday night sitting in a hot pool in Omarama...please be snowing!

Rah Alice and I have started a little project where we get three subjects a week that we take photos for. Here is the first set of photos, cant wait to see what each one of us come up with every week.

Tattoo designs

This one here is what I have designed for Kevin, The main turtle and shell is to represent security. The triple twist going through the middle represents two lives twisting into one, and the two turtles within the shell represent Guardian/Protector and Family. 

This one is what I design for Simon, its to go around the top of his forearm and sit above the outline of New Zealand, his existing tattoo. He was wanting something Kiwiana'ish but I was trying to keep away from chliche Kiwiana. Just a rough sketch for now.
